Art Workshop Instructors & Students Showcase
Instructor: Ibolya Taligas
Ibolya Taligas is a Hungarian watercolorist, a travel enthusiast and nature lover. She loves nothing more than traveling with her sketchbooks to unusual and beautiful locations, making visual records of her surroundings. She also organizes painting holidays in less-discovered regions in Europe.
"It all started when I first bought my outdoor painting kit, although I have always been sketching wherever I went. I first started painting in watercolors in 2006. To share my passion of sketching with others I often organized sketching events for my close friends who were also living in London at the time. It was them who suggested that I start doing more serious workshops where they could learn some tips and tricks of watercolor painting rather than just sketching alongside each other. So I started workshops in 2011, studio based as well as outdoors. We either gathered in a rented studio space or in one of the many parks in London and some other scenic locations around England. I didn't realize there was so much interest from people who were very keen to learn to paint. As I've always loved traveling I thought it would be a great idea to organize longer painting holidays. My holidays were already painting holidays as there isn't many days when I don't get my sketchbooks out wherever I go. I have named my art holidays Painting Getaways and I now offer painting weeks and even weekends in Europe, a continent that I know quite well. I was flattered to have been invited to Art Retreats by the owners, which now means I can focus on the tutoring and leave the arrangements for them. I'm pleased to offer these luxurious, all-inclusive holidays in stunning locations in France, Spain, Portugal and many more countries in future.
I'm passionate about my craft and love teaching it to others, especially those who feel intimidated by the medium. I feel that I've achieved my goals when I see my students going home pleased with their paintings and sketches done on our art holidays. I really enjoy passing on all those little tips and tricks of watercolor painting that perhaps not all artists will tell you about.
Ibolya also organizes walking and sketching events. We fill our sketchbooks as we stop off at inspiring places along our walk to do quick sketches. A very popular activity for those who like to stay fit and be creative at the same time.
